Lots and lots of lucky people share the same birthday with me, here are just a few of them:
William Wymark Jacobs born on September 8, 1863 and snuffed it on September 1, 1943. He was this groovy bloke who wrote short stories the most famous of which is the macabre and spooky, "The Monkey's Paw."

SAINT Catherine OF BOLOGNA popped from her Mummy's tummy on September 8, 1413 pushing up daisies March 9. Italian mystic and writer whose spiritual writings were popular in the bathroom. Patron saint of spaghetti with meat sauce.

Richard I King of England dragged kicking and screaming into this world September 8, 1157 shuffled off this mortal coil on April 6, 1199. He was Duke of Aquitaine (from 1168) and of Poitiers (from 1172) and king of England, duke of Normandy, and count of Anjou (1189-99). Quite a lively man for someone who had a lion for a heart.

In 1925 Peter Sellers, actor, radio personality, silly person and a bit of a git in private was spawned. He's dead now so doesn't get about much.

But more than this, there were some groovy things that hapened on that day of days...
  • In 1100 Clement III, first antipope (1084-1100), dies
  • In 1522 1st circumnavigation of the globe completed (Juan de Elcano, Spain).
  • In 1858 Lincoln makes a speech about when you can fool people.
  • In 1921 1st Miss America crowned (Margaret Gorman).
  • In 1944 1st German V-2 rocket hit Britain.
  • In 1966 Star Trek appears on TV for the first time.

I'll be one next birthday, so if you want to send me a dirty big prezzie, feel free!
